Hey, Mr Sam Tom, put a record on...
Mar. 14th, 2006 08:26 pmLyle fans will have noted that I was recently considering buying a record player with in-built speakers and amplifier, in order to enjoy my lovely vinyls here in London.
Well, I've found such a device on eBay and have put in a bid - it is a lot cheaper than the on-line shops and even the catalogues, yet it is brand new. It is quite compact and not too old-fashioned looking. Some of them are deliberately styled to look 40's or 50's, but I don't think that would fit in with the other technology in my bedroom. I don't expect the sound quality to be as good as my hi-fi separates back in Devon, but it wouldn't be practical to bring those here.
Tomorrow I will know if I have won. Wish me luck, because if I do win it, you will all be able to come and have a listen to the more obscure gems in my record collection, such as my Ronny EP and Data's brilliant nuclear disaster-themed flop single, Fallout. (When I've picked them up from Devon, that is.)
