Warf!

Today at the Broadcast Centre I had a business lunch with a dog. I was sitting in the social area on the fourth floor when I sensed a presence behind me and, turning, round saw a large, silent Alsatian looking over my shoulder at my ham and pineapple pizza. I know the dog, Oscar, as I once shared a taxi with him and his blind owner, who takes him to work. I fondled his fluffy chops and gave him some bits of ham. He even ate my crusts.

The weekend was fraught with broadband worries – having signed up with a new ISP, Nildram, we bought a £35 modem from a local PC fair and connected it, only to find we still couldn’t access the internet. I thought it might be something wrong with the modem but Nildram said it was because of a fault on the BT line – some Nildram users say that BT deliberately create such problems for clients of other ISPs who have BT lines. In the end, they sorted it out and on Sunday night Maison Ponce had broadband again!

We listened to the new Robopop volume 2 CD that [livejournal.com profile] spam_robot77 had bought. There are a few dodgy tracks on it, including some that aren’t even electro, but most of the songs are good and some are great. My favourite was Limousine by Knights. It’s got a brilliant, swooning chorus, atmospheric synths and vocals that sound strangely androgynous, as if a man’s and a woman’s voice had been blended together. It made a change from the simpering, breathy little-girl vocals of quite a few of the other artistes. The Temposhark/Princess Julia collaboration, Paris, is good too, especially the daft middle eight, where she attempts a few French utterances in squawking Cockney tones.
