Om-nom-nom
Feb. 6th, 2008 05:34 pmI was fortunate enough to be visited by my mother at the weekend, who came to help me with some DIY jobs around my flat. On Saturday night we had lovely pizzas delivered, which were pronounced by Sarah to be like proper Italian ones, with thin, slightly floppy bases and flavoursome toppings. Afterwards I was much too gravid to go and see Matinee Club at Stay Beautiful.
In between DIY jobs and trips to B&Q and Asda Living (the latter sounds like the title of a grim Cabaret Voltaire song to me), we formed our own Matinee Club, watching old matinee films on TV. One of them, You Can't Take It With You, had an odd scene where, during a polite society house party, an eccentric old chap creeps out from behind a door wearing - surprise! - a disturbingly lifelike rubber walrus mask that covers the whole of his head. The other guests are alarmed and indignant. I can't remember much else about the film.
Yesterday I made pancakes that turned out unusually well. I have had trouble in the past but attribute my success this time to following a Delia Smith recipe from the internet, which involved mixing molten butter into the batter, and using butter instead of oil to grease the pan. Om-nom-nom :)
I had a driving lesson in Barnet today. It is very pleasant around there, you wouldn't imagine it was anywhere near London and you can drive fast along the almost empty country roads.
