Ooh! I had the idiot's lantern on the Hits channel as I tucked into my steak and chips, and it was showing the unedifying FHM top 100 sexiest singers countdown. I was feeling a bit disgruntled at Sarah Harding having been placed at number four, as I thought this would mean that no other member of Girls Aloud would be similarly "honoured". But then it turned out that the excellent Cheryl Cole (formerly Tweedy) was number 1! Rather than show a Girls Aloud video, they showed lots of clips of the Tweedy edited together to the soundtrack of Love Machine.

It is the third year running that she has been voted number one by the readers of lad mag FHM, whom I would normally suspect of having highly dubious taste. It's interesting as she beat the more blonde and fluffy singers that you would normally expect that type of man to like. People are always going on about how women supposedly love a bad guy, but it also seems that many men like a fierce lady. As long as she looks like this:

She's posing for consumer products now and then )

Nice. I should finally be able to watch TV channels other than the music channels, Film 4 and ITV2+1 soon (the only ones the inadequate aerial on the roof will allow) as I've arranged for Virgin to send me a cable TV box in the post after having been messed around something awful with the installation dates. The engineer came in March originally to install the broadband and phone, but claimed I wasn't allowed to have the free cable TV that I thought (rightly, it turned out) was included in the package. By the time the misunderstanding had arisen, however, he had already installed the cables so I'll be able to just plug the box into them and enter the code the helpline will give me. Hopefully.

At the weekend I had to work, but I nonetheless found the energy to accompany Sarah and Dan to the last ever Anti-Social. It's a shame it's finishing but the guys who ran it are both going to have their own nights, so there'll be twice the clubs to go to! It was a good send-off - the crowd were even more dressed-up than usual and the DJing was good. They even played House of Love by East 17!
