On Sunday Tea Hen and I went to visit
joysilence at her Sheffield residence. We spent Sunday night lounging, then on Monday I visited the illustrious Betty Tigers salon near her flat. I had a trim and a bleach streak put in my fringe. Mostly I just went for the experience of the place, which I had been assured was unusual and delightful.
Indeed it was - the shop window was is full of fluffy tigers, and inside the walls are decorated with pictures of tigers and various postcards and pictures. The atmosphere was most quiet and pleasant. I was the only client at the time and was plied with shortbread petticoat tails, tea and magazines. The benevolent owner Elton produces art using bleach as paint to create visual effects, and also makes short films, so he got busy with that out the back while the bleach set on my hair. I am pleased with the result, and Elton only wanted £20! I was so stunned at the incredibly low price that I forgot to tip him, and felt quite bad afterwards.
The yard out the back has some stunning murals featuring tigers and other animals. Below are some pictures.

We also visited a Polish food shop near the salon, and bought a few delicacies, including garlic sausage and some cakes that are a bit like Jaffa cakes in format but have vanilla cream filling and white chocolate icing. Om-nom-nom.
Yesterday we just sat about watching my Miami Vice DVD box set I got for my birthday, marvelling at the dynamic 80s pop soundtrack, feeling bad about not being Sonny Crockett, and admiring the unashamedly fruity tops and pastel jackets of our hero's wardrobe.
