"I like dancing, at the disco..."

Yesterday
spam_robot77, her friend Chris and I went to Deviant at Metro. We went there to see a couple of friends’ bands, but it turned out Lene Lovich was performing too! She looked and sounded pretty much the same as she did in her 80’s heyday. Her voice is still good, in an alarming, German Kate Bush sort of way.
We also met Paul Reynolds from A Flock Of Seagulls! He was the one who played guitar and had big glasses. A mate of mine knows him was showing him the sights of nocturnal London. He turned out to be a very nice chap. I told him I thought the verse to The Modern’s Industry (which the DJ actually played later that night) sounded just like the chorus to The More You Live… by the Flock. He agreed!
Unfortunately, Sarah’s evening was rounded off by someone mistakenly walking off with her coat, which she had left in a corner! But overall, we had a good time.
Today I subtitled the Nottingham local news. One of the stories was about a former mayor complaining about how too many rubber bands are being dropped by postmen onto the city’s streets. The final story was nice though, about attempts to breed a rare fish called a burbot and reintroduce it into the nation’s rivers. They have brought some in specially from Denmark! I love the way fish look, and I found Herbert the burbot very sweet. Burbots are large, elongated, grey and spiky. They look quite scowly, too. I always find scowling animals endearing.
