I really like the new Egg card advert where the family of guinea pigs are given a retro Commodore-style computer to help them manage their bills on-line, instead of having to stuff them down the toilet as they had previously been doing.
I couldn't find it on the net but I found two earlier Egg ads which also have guinea pigs in.
Aah, how sweet
On Friday night, I went with Sarah, Dan and his girlfriend to Ghetto, which was holding a Pet Shop Boys night. They didn't play an awful lot of Pet Shop Boys actually, but it was still quite good.
We then had a nice relaxing weekend in Wood Green. We watched lots of DVDs, including the little-known American horror Dead Birds. I really liked it. Set, unusually for its genre, in the days of the Wild West, it's about a group of bandits and Civil War deserters who go to lie low for a while in a sinister house that has been mysteriously abandoned by its former occupants, a slave-owner and his family. Needless to say, it all goes horribly wrong. The film isn't overly gory, but offers a lot in the way of menacing atmosphere, psychological as well as supernatural horrors, and some rather horrible monsters.
We also watched Peep Show and I was disturbed to find myself actually anticipating, and speaking aloud, what Mark was about to say at one point. The scene in question involved his Friday night trip to the supermarket. His kerrayzee, happy-go-lucky flatmate implies he is socially inadequate to be shopping when everyone else is out having fun. To which he replies something like "Exactly, no queues! So who's the loser now!" I have often found myself identifying with the pathologically respectable, quietly disgusted character of Mark, but I don't know if I want to be quite that much like him.
Is anyone here going to the next Club Bohemia, this weekend? I'm not sure whether to go or not. I suppose I could always go to Morrisons.
